FAQS

Are Perl/CGI Scripts Supported On My Web Site?
Perl/CGI Scripting Is Included With All Hosting Plans Except The Basic Plan. However You Should Make An Effort To Find An ASP Script With The Same Function As The CGI Script, Since ASP Will Execute Faster On A Windows Server Than Perl. All Perl/CGI Scripts Must End With .pl Or .cgi

What Is The Path To Perl?
You Do Not Need To Specify The Path To Perl On A Windows Server, However Some Scripts Require It. The Path Is c:\perl\bin\perl.exe

How Do I CHMOD A File Or Directory?
You Do Not CHMOD Files Or Directories On A Windows Server. The Web Site Already Has The Correct Permissions For CGI/Perl Scripts To Run.

Help, My Script Will Not Run!
Unfortunately Not All Perl Scripts Will Run On Windows, But Most Will. Nearly All Perl Scripts Will Require Some Modification To Run On A Windows Server. Many Times Instructions For The Script Configuration On A Windows Server Can Be Found In The Script Documentation Or On The Script Creators Web Site.

The Most Common Changes That Need To Be Made To The Perl Script Involve Specifying The Full Physical Path To The Script. Scripts Written For Unix Use A Relative Path For The File System. It May Look Something Like This

/htdocs/user/www/myscript.pl
Or
../myscript.pl

This Is Not Allowed On a Windows Server. You Would Need To Modify The Script To Show The Full Physical Path To The Script. You Can Find The Full Path To Your Web Site By Logging On To The Control Panel For Your Domain.

/htdocs/user/www/myscript.pl

May Need to Be Changed To Something Like

d:\\wwwsites\\yoursite\\www
(Note The Double Slashes)

Relative Paths Are OK For HTTP Links, But Not For The File System.

Server Side Includes
Server Side Includes Are Included With All Hosting Plans Except The Basic Plan. All Server Side Includes Must End With .shtm Or .shtml
