Installing WordPress on IIS
This page covers the installation and configuration of WordPress. WordPress may be installed in the root www directory, or to any sub directory of your web site. When installing to a subdirectory of your site, you should use the control panel to set the directory as an application.


How it's done

  • Subscribe to the WordPress announce mailing list. This low volume mailing list will alert you to WordPress upgrades and security enhancements.


  • Download the latest version of WordPress from the WordPress.org web site.


  • Unzip the WordPress files and upload them to your web space, via FTP.


  • Use the control panel to create a MySql database, to hold the WordPress data.


  • Begin configuring WordPress, by visiting your web site or temporary URL
       

  • Enter the MySql database details into the WordPress configuration.
     

  • Enter a user name and password for the site administrator, then complete the install.
       

  • The WordPress install should now be complete. Visit your web site or temp URL to view the site.
